Description Handmade Seal for Prosphoro “As a Lamb to the Slaughter” It is handcrafted by Father Damaskinos at the Holy Cell of Saint Basil in Kavsokalyvia. Entirely hand-carved on linden wood, with deep engraving, a thick perimeter, and symbolism that faithfully follows the authentic Orthodox iconography. The linden wood is of excellent quality and suitable for contact with food. The perimeter is carved with the inscription “AS A LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER THE LORD WAS LED.” On the back, it features a handle for easy use, decorated with a carved cross in Byzantine script reading “JESUS CHRIST CONQUERS” and the carved inscription “HOLY MOUNT.” Seal for Prosphoro of Mount Athos – Symbolism The Prosphoro is the bread offered in the Church for the Divine Eucharist. Along with wine, as Holy Gifts (bread and wine), before being brought with the Great Entrance to the Holy Table, they are placed in the Prothesis (pre place = to prepare), where, during the Proskomide (Preparation), they are prepared for the Divine Liturgy.
