After his death, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew initiated his canonization process, and he was declared a saint of the Orthodox Church by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on January 13, 2015. The Greek Orthodox Church commemorates his memory on July 12. Saint Paisios lived his final years at the abandoned cell of Panagouda, where he worked tirelessly, offering spiritual guidance and prayers to the many visitors.
