Description Handmade Pyrography Depicting Prophet Elias An exceptional icon crafted using the pyrography technique, depicting Prophet Elias. This piece has been created entirely by hand. Prophet Elias was an Israelite prophet of God. He was the son of Sabach and came from a village in the greater region of Gilead called Thesbe. He lived in the land of Gilead and was active during the reign of King Ahab, around the 9th–10th century BC. The name Elias is the Greek translation of the Hebrew name Eliyahu (אליהו), meaning “My God is Yahweh.” Several miracles are attributed to Prophet Elias. According to the Old Testament, he called down fire from heaven three times (3 Kings 18:39). He also stopped the rain by his word, causing a drought that lasted three and a half years. Additionally, he is credited with resurrecting the son of the widow of Zarephath. It is also said that he saw God on Mount Horeb.
