Description **The Myrrhbearers** are the devout women who followed the teachings and public ministry of Jesus Christ with remarkable devotion, took care of His body, and anointed it with perfumes during His burial. They were the first to learn of His Resurrection from the angel. In honor of them, the second Sunday after Pascha is called the Sunday of the Myrrhbearers. The Myrrhbearer women inspired many great Fathers of the Church, who highlighted their devotion and witness as a model for the role of women in the life of the Church. Saint Damascene of Studion gives a detailed account of who the Myrrhbearers were: The **Mary Magdalene**, **Salome**, the wife of Zebedee and mother of the apostles James and John, **Joanna** the wife of Chuza, **Mary** the sister of Lazarus, her sister **Martha**, **Mary** the wife of Clopas, mother of the apostle James the Less, and **Susanna**.
