Description Machine Seal for Prosphora The Machine Seal for Prosphora is made of poplar wood and follows the authentic Orthodox symbolism related to the Holy Sacrament of the Divine Eucharist. Seal for Prosphora of Mount Athos – What Does It Symbolize? The round shape of the seal symbolizes the womb of the Virgin Mary, from which the only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, was born. At the center, a square is engraved with the words “Jesus Christ Conquers” (IC XC NIKA). This section is called the “Lamb,” and the priest cuts it in a cube shape from the prosphora during the Proskomede and places it on the Holy Diskos. It is then transformed into the Body of Christ. On the left, there is a triangular section containing the letters Μ and Θ (Mother of God), symbolizing the Virgin Mary. On the right, there is a square section enclosing nine triangles. These represent the nine orders of Angels and Saints.
