Elder Paisios, when asked about amulets, would say:“Amulets are fabrics of various shapes, square or triangular, which contain various sacred items such as oil from the vigil lamp, basil from the Holy Cross, mastic wax from a church consecration or from the white vestment of the bishop who performed the consecration, and pieces of relic cloth from saints’ vestments.
